I have been hearing people talk about the power outages in Texas and trying to say that it is nefarious... well, they get over 16% of their power from Wind. FRom the linked article, they cheaped out on the cold proof motors and are paying for it now...

Additional info from wikipedia:

"Wind power in Texas consists of over 150 wind farms, which together have a total nameplate capacity of over 30,000 MW (as of 2020). If Texas were a country, it would rank fifth in the world:The installed wind capacity in Texas exceeds installed wind capacity in all countries but China, the United States, Germany and India. Texas produces the most wind power of any U.S. state"

Apparently the company that owns the wind generators, parked a bunch of them because they weren't needed. Then the cold snap and snow\ice came and they froze. Now they can't start them without cleaning them off.
