I've been thinking of getting back into RC aircraft. I built and flew them w my dad when I was a kid. Long before modern drones. I sort of want to build a .45~.60 sized plane w a FPV camera, a modern channel hopping radio, and pilot it that way. It would be interesting and possibly useful in certain possible future realities.
its the time for it, all the ez mode hw is open and cheap to the general public now, when I tried to build robots in the 90s it was 1000s of bucks.
3d printers, cheap ics, a zillion new tiny low power mcus for iot exist, I got a quadroped walker I made that funs on 12oz of Lipos and charges with a solar panel on its back. Wifi is silly, I bought some LoRa modules, 15km in rural areas at 433MHz and it has a WAN protocol but I am just doing node to node right now.
Its ripe for it. plus a fun way to walk around out in the locked up world.
If nothing else, in fanshitting times, I could use it to steal keys, cans of food, or just recon that next hill.
Fuck If I'm gonna be a normie if it all goes down, when all is great, its starbucks and buttonups, but when the world stops on a dime..... different rules
also its a great way to make people who bought their drones and can only fly for 12 minutes, eat a big bag of dicks when you say "oh yea, I built that one"
