"Variant" - they did it right in this case. But "resistant to antibodies" is BS. When the immune system learns to create antibodies against the spike protein of the virus (through infection or vaccination), it learns to create maybe 200 different antibodies. New virus variants can maybe evade 10 of them, making the immune defence 5% less effektive. The virus cannot change its highly optimized spike protein much without rendering it useless. That's why the reinfections are almost non-existent. This is not a seasonal virus with reinfections every few months.
