Why not
First we need the original docs
>In 1980, as a result of a lawsuit in a german court, the German State Forensic Bureau (BKA) forensically examined the original diary manuscript. The analysis determined that significant portions of the manuscript was written with a fine ballpoint pen.
>The BKA also determined that none of the manuscript matched the handwriting of Anne Frank.
>The real author of the Diary was Meyer Levin.
I'm going to look around see if I find those (documents), that's probably going to be in german so unless an english speaker wrote an article on it with links to the original documents, that's going to be hard since I don't speak german
Edit: https://www.annefrank.org/en/anne-frank/go-in-depth/authenticity-diary-anne-frank/
I'm reading the "official" rebuttal, this might be harder to crack than previously anticipated. No idea how much truth or BS this rebuttal carries, since there are no links to prove the claims
I can claim the earth is flat
Thank you for the momentum. Getting the original docs is what I am going to focus in on. After about 30 minutes this morning, no luck.
I did some prelim with the same source to see some of the defense and the disputes to BKA. Looks like there were multiple reviews forensic studies and BKA was the only one with not perfect Jewish results.
>In 1987, a Mr Ockelmann from Hamburg wrote that his mother had written the annotation sheets in question. Mrs Ockelmann was a member of the team that carried out the graphological investigation into the writings of Anne Frank around 1960
One thing to note is how much this authenticity page extrapolates the argument to holocaust denial and ultimately how much they focus on the character of those who doubt authenticity. Seems like a greater agenda than factually validating the diary. ALso weird how they bring in Freedom of Speech and legality to that page. Fucking parasites. Lots of claims validating it, no real "evidence" though. A fishy page I would think for most independent thinkers.
I can't find a primary source for the life of me. My best attempt this morning is finding images of it:
- https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/7c/Diary_of_Anne_Frank_28_sep_1942.jpg
- https://th.bing.com/th/id/OIP.xLKkcLqWOpJAAeMG4JahCwHaEK?pid=Api&rs=1
Logically, I think this should follow the lines of:
- Identify primary source - if we cant find primary source, that's telling (spoiler, I dont think we will be able to)
- Once primary source obtained, analyze writing and translate
- In parallel, validate the settlement of Meyer Levin, if he got paid, we have more thread to pull on
- Compile findings in a one page PDF ("meme format") and work with some anons to translate
I will keep digging. There should be some scanned version of the whole diary if this is all authentic history.
