Hopefully, it is true. There are Scytl servers in Frankfurt, keep in mind. I have confirmed this. I suppose I could try to track it down and see if it's active. Maybe later today.

The CIA uses what they call "proprietaries." Most people would use the word "front." They are mostly the same idea. For example, the Clinton Foundation is an obvious CIA proprietary.

I would posit that most of these companies are proprietaries... the voting companies, that is. Point being, the CIA isn't going to name any of their servers "CIA Server"; not for an operation like is being suggested. It is absolutely appropriate to try to rule out Scytl as a CIA front, especially since they love to do stupid stuff like name stuff "Say Central Intelligence Agency as fast as you can 10 times." What do you get? Scytl. Not saying that's how it happened, but lame things like that do happen.

What people don't realize is that "field agents" aren't like the movies. Special Operators are the tough guys with guns who go on night time raids. Spies are, generally, REQUIRED to only stick to very cowardly tactics. Also, they aren't big tough dudes and hot chicks who all know MMA. Most of them are average looking bureaucrats with narcissistic personality disorder. I actually know some really good dudes in the intelligence community, but they never make good spies. They usually make great diplomatic security, but, then, they are tasked with protecting a person like I just described.

In the "field" is actually just holding down a job at another agency or a corporation. ESPECIALLY news agencies. But also the FBI. The DoD. Etc.

The idea is that they always have someone who can streamline an op with no questions asked.

I can't say whether the story is true or not. It has elements of truth, but is RUMINT at the moment. "Rumor Intelligence".
