As far as I can tell, it was to quell the protests in HK and simultaneously to free up some funds used for some old people's pensions in big D cities while also providing a reason for Biden to not have to campaign. There was also the economic angle; they wanted to reverse economic gains POTUS had made.
Ultimately, the Chinese commies and the commies in Washington, California, New York, etc collude with the likes of Gates and Fauci to trick the world in to debilitating themselves, muzzling themselves and spinning it in whatever way they can to prevent the reelection of a duly elected president.
