While SRAM brings good things (less prone to data corruption and faster access timings because it doesn’t need to be refreshed all the time), they aren’t taken advantages of since the C64 architecture isn’t originally designed for.

The refresh signal/interruptions are still generated, so the overall speed doesn’t change much.
