This is the part that gets me. A bunch of people who make it their job to create problems for your company are never useful. If they are in a larger company with smoother, more established operations their drama and costs are just harder to distinguish. A net negative is still a net negative.

Aside from clerical work like payroll, hiring, etc. their job is to keep the company out of staff related legal trouble. If you ever have one who creates trouble you fire them immediately. They’re not “more suited to ‘peacetime’ conditions”, they’re narcissistic idiots.
