Nearly all of the dozen workers BI has spoken to in recent weeks have said they feel that the new rules may be an attempt to reduce its US workforce.

Nailed it. People have been saying this about all the recent return to office changes at various companies. I know corporate management is usually callous and out of touch, but this time it looks obvious.

They switched their floor layouts from cubicles to packing people into long rows of small tables (The Current Thing™). Even with all the extra people they could cram in they still only have enough spots for 70%–80% of their staff to sit down and work (the rest in meeting rooms or the eating area). They haven’t even ordered all of their teams back to the office yet and the parking lots are already over filled.

Maybe they’re so bone headed they didn’t see any of that coming but they’re still pushing forward with this move anyway. That’s where it changes from stupidity to malicious treatment of employees.

Corporations are the niggers of the business world. They think they can steal shit in broad daylight and hide in the middle of an open room without someone noticing.
