I want to know if a tariff can be applied to the current outsourcing situation. I think it can. If it were more expensive to hire indians (and other non Americans) to take all of our phone calls about tech support (& etc.) then those jobs would come back.

When I say "make it more expensive," I mean make it prohibitively more expensive. Make it cost many times the amount of an American worker. Those jobs would come back so fast, it would make your head spin.

I don't think that is understood to apply to services. India built itself in this grey area.

If you rid the country of 30 million illegals, not only will wages go up, but rents and housing costs will go down, along with food costs.

While that is going on, if seed oils and all shitty food additives are banned, fat people will become normal sized again and many health issues will vanish, lowering health insurance premiums and the need for doctors visits.

  • Deportations raise wages.
  • Employers respond to wage pressure by offshoring harder
  • Downsized talented people start new enterprises.

I think that's manageable. Maybe even preferable that small business is not globohomo. Never know, it could be revolutionary. Also, about damn time someone point out that increasing labor supply suppresses wages.
