Megabus ran regular routes between the cities here in Ohio (As does Greyhound,) which is something I always threw out at people when they started complaining about muh light rails. The replies were always vile and incomprehensible because muh light rails.

That even a cheap carrier like Megabus couldn't get riders tells me there's no market for this kind of mass transport in the area, and any kind of rail is going to go out of business or quickly become a money sink to keep it running.

Yeah, I know busses aren't the best transport method for cleanliness, but I doubt that light rail running the same routes would be any better.

The answers I always got with the light rail fanatics were along the lines of "Well I'd take the train to see the Clowns play in Cleveland!"

That's great, your one or two trips a year will most certainly keep it running the other 363 days.
