I don't see how anyone could have thought this was a good idea.
They should have just bought 1 for each of their high-sales locations as a novelty. It probably would have the same draw (little to none) as a whole fleet of these things had.

Creating an artificial scarcity would likely appeal to the elitist attuite of EV owners. Securing a hard to get EV rental would be another virtue signal. Hertz probably could have made that profitable on a small scale.
Yes, that's what I was thinking. Sell to the tardlings that chase the veblen goods - more so if it's one of the high end models. They could probably upsell that thing and make a fortune.
