It's an excuse. If they say they can't find American workers then they can just outsource more to India. They know people will quit and they can just hire their cousin Sneha or Manjeet.That's what the company I work for does. Put indians in charge and all you get are more indians.
And the new ones they bring in won't be able to speak English.
That could be the long term plan. Right now it might be the new way of frustrating people into quitting on their own.
Dell's new WFH policy follows the February 2023 layoffs of about 6,650 workers, or around 5 percent of employees. Unnamed employees that BI spoke with showed concerns that the upcoming policy is an attempt to get people to quit so that Dell can save money on human resources without the severance costs of layoffs.
The thing is, usually you target an unproductive employee to make them quit. This hits everyone equally, so the most productive people with the best job prospects will be the ones to leave first.
Even if you don’t care about working from home, companies that force in office work could be struggling to keep the best people. Your co‐workers will be what’s left over. That will be less qualified people and social types who don’t get much done. Not a good work environment.
