I wouldn't order high-value items from Amazon these days regardless. There are too many hands in the chain that get paid little and would have no problem removing said high-value items.
I looked back at Amazon purchases over the last 5 years, only found two orders for items over $100.. Pit Boss vertical smoker, and a GTX 2070..
I generally prefer to avoid Amazon these days, especially for high value items though. I can never guarantee I'll be around to secure the package upon delivery. I've opted to have packages held at the ups/usps/fedex facilities for pick-up on a number of occasions. The 'wrong item received' scam is not something I've really ever considered. I suppose I've naively assumed that delivery drivers would not be compromised.
If I have to order something from Amazoff, I'll have it sent to work or to one of the lockers in the area. I try not to order much from them anymore, that's not difficult since their prices aren't great these days.
I recently ordered a usb hub/micro sd card reader since after going to several electronics stores, the employees gave me a blank stare when I attempted to tell them what I were looking for. The closest thing any of these employees were able to come up with was a usb charging hub which allowed 5 or 6 devices to plug into an electrical outlet.
