This has grown pervasive due to both Amex and Amazon outsourcing to India. Due to in-group preference, they look at what should be an adversarial chargeback between Amex and Amazon and then collaborate to fuck over the customer because they're bigoted against Westerners. Additionally, law and logic are exclusively cultural values in the West. Indians dont value following the law, only conformance to "policy" even if it's illogical, illegal, and blatantly retarded.

I wouldn't order high-value items from Amazon these days regardless. There are too many hands in the chain that get paid little and would have no problem removing said high-value items.

I looked back at Amazon purchases over the last 5 years, only found two orders for items over $100.. Pit Boss vertical smoker, and a GTX 2070..

I generally prefer to avoid Amazon these days, especially for high value items though. I can never guarantee I'll be around to secure the package upon delivery. I've opted to have packages held at the ups/usps/fedex facilities for pick-up on a number of occasions. The 'wrong item received' scam is not something I've really ever considered. I suppose I've naively assumed that delivery drivers would not be compromised.

If I have to order something from Amazoff, I'll have it sent to work or to one of the lockers in the area. I try not to order much from them anymore, that's not difficult since their prices aren't great these days.

This is wisdom that comes only from first hand experience.
