In 90+% White country self checkout would work just fine

I let the self checkout hall monitors know that if I'm to check out my own gear, then I have the expectation of being compensated for my efforts.

I'd use them if they gave you a 1-2% discount. I don't work for the fucking store, hire some employees.

They are getting better and better. I hate having to interact with retail staff, most of them are niggers and shitskins where I am.

[–] 1 pt 1y

They're a lot better than they used to be.

Self-checkout accepts all civil and criminal liability for any and all mistakes.

[–] 1 pt 1y

I disagree, self-checkout is the best!

They're great for some things. Ones around here used to have limits on how much you could scan, now I see people with a months worth of stuff trying to use them. Putting 100 gallons of shit in a 1 gallon bucket doesn't work.

But they are great for accidentally forgetting to scan things.

Yeah it only works if it's "10 items or less" you know

[–] 0 pt 1y

Not really, but trying to check a couple of carts full of stuff is difficult when you've got a platform with 4 bags on it.

Self-checkout is being sabotaged by both the employees/execs because it competes against their business model.

Employees don't like them because it shows how unnecessary and artificial their jobs really are which threaten their job, and execs don't like them because it increases product throughput thus turning their 'customer designed' stores into product warehouses and increasing labor demand to fill those warehouses and requiring corporate decisions and work effort to change the store design product chain. Execs don't like to do actual work, but push work and responsibility to their lower employees/managers who don't care enough or have the resources or authority to solve the problem.

What you get in the end result is the cluster fuck experience and incompetency of modern day store shopping death spiral.
