Theres goes my cheap supply of diodes and transistors. We'll have to start stripping old boards again.
You can get metric asstons of Ge diodes from the former Soviet republics.
Good to know.
I stocked up on Ge transistors and diodes some years ago. They made them well into the 90s in quantity.
There are a number of Ge diodes they made with Ge, all under the D9x family (Д9) - they're all roughly equivalent to 1N34A types, I've used all kinds in circuits requiring them. You may need a certain one for phase detectors, but rectifiers and audio detection just about any will work.
