The estimated payrates presented here: https://www.payscale.com/research/US/Employer=TSMC_North_America/City/Phoenix-AZ

aren't really anything special. I bet they want people that are 100% qualified as well, and won't train anymore.

Those salaries are reminiscent of the semiconductor salaries up here in the sticks more than 20 years ago, and we were only running 200mm wafers at larger geometry than TSMC.

TSMC won't attract the best with those numbers.

I doubt they'll attract anyone with that, unless they get disgruntled Intel workers.

If there is a shortage, it's entirely created by big tech. They've been destroying income and pushing Americans out of it in favor of unqualified foreigners for decades. They've significantly suppressed wages. Rather than filling the demand and creating high paid, skilled workers, they've gutted the industry and increased shortages.

If you're in tech there isn't a big tech CEO who doesn't personally owe you tens of thousands (or more) of dollars each.

That's the problem in a nutshell.

I get calls all the time for very skilled jobs, but when we get to the pay portion they're offering what Harbor Freight pays for a shift manager role. "I can only offer you $19 for this engineering position that we need your 10 years of RF skills for!"

Not knocking on HF, the people in the local stores here seem to generally be able to help you with your questions in a timely manner.

Tsmc is one of the most demanding companies. They pay low, high stress on their employees. They rival Samsung in their business practices. Demand high, supply low. They should find another state that can supply tech position workers that doesn’t get 115 daily isn’t over taxed and have energy/water issues.
