It's thought, in part, due to the massive slowdown in car sales. Satellite Radio is often a feature on new cars.

I can't see how they'd have that many people to lay off, it's not like the technology is any different or they're creating lots of new programming. Most of it is already available feeds or other garbage.

There are plenty of streaming specialty stations for free if you have a data plan on your phone. When I'm travelling, I usually put on one of SomaFM's stations.

I've used Pandora since they opened also. I have all my stations tailored for my tastes, and know how the algorithm works. I don't mind paying for it. I'm too much of a fud-boomer to fiddle fuck with the new music stuff

I would imagine a boomer being more attracted to the simplicity of satellite radio rather than a algorithm controlled smartphone application.
