Southwest has had issues for decades. They knew they needed to fix this back in 2004 when their best CEO retired. Next CEO was an accounting tard who only cared about muy quarterly ROI and not "does the business function". The next CEO after him is marginally better, but has only been in place less than a year and hasnt had time to fix a two decade old mess.
Then they took the bailout and spent it all on stock buybacks and CEO pay without anything going towards modernizing systems.
