I'm a hiring manager for a high tech industry. I don't care how my people work. I only expect results. I only get upset when they consistently fail to deliver. In fact, I have the opposite problem: my team seems to be online after hours. I have to make me unavailable otherwise I get peppered with questions during off hours. I plead with them to take time off and not to remote in on vacation. Some just can't do it.

My boss never wants to go back to the office. He told me he doesn't care where I am. Interesting how different people are dealing with this.

I'm a VP of Tech. I also don't care how or when my people work. Make your calls, get your shit done. Come to the office every so often so we can kick back at happy hour.

Bad managers who hire bad workers are the only ones worrying about the things mentioned in the article.

you work for Not Egomaniacal Technologies, right?

Work is life indoctrination.

I've found that it doesn't matter whether I'm at home or working on site, I still only work about two of my eight hours most days. They're an extremely productive two hours, but that's about all I can give regularly while maintaining my sanity.

Author starts out like he's maybe making a good point, but then it devolves into a) broad and inaccurate generalizations of exactly what a manager's role is.. b) attacks on the character of all those in management positions.

This drivel isn't worth anyone's time.
