Same here. They overbuilt maybe 15 years ago here, I remember a few almost-new theaters (as in open for less than 5 years) being closed and just torn down.

You think the same will happen to all the AMCs stuck on the side of mall buildings, or was that the only type of theaters they built?

I can't remember what chain they were. Just that they were built and were gone within a few years. I really don't know if they build standalones or not.

Eh I do like the theater in general although about once a year. It'll be the dinner meal ones and the vintage ones that remain
