Hello poal,

I need your help: I want to surprise my man with a great brew, and I need a good recommendation/review. He likes Pilsners and Porters. He's kind of an alcohol snob-- so no cheap crap. Imports OK, but U.S. is preferred. And we live in Utah, so some of the specialty or local brews from other parts of the country might not be available here. But tell me about it anyway and I'll see if I can find it.

Thanks in advance!

Bellhaven

He will not be disappointed, probably one of the best in history. It's a Scottish beer

Thanks! I'll look for it.

Get the cans, have him put the glass on top and flip it over. Slowly move the can up as it enters the glass.

This is to preserve carbonation and the beautiful tasty head

Warsteiner and Pilsner Urquell are very solid pilsners, they should be easy to find but it's a fair bet he's had them.

is a German Helles style, a very solid choice and similar to pilsners. If you can find it, it might be something new for him.

I really don't know any good micro brew American Pilsners, it isn't a style you see a lot since the IPA craze. So most of the good pilsner type beers are from Europe.

I don't really drink Porters.

Thank you, I'll see If I can find that one. I've generally liked German beers when I've tried them.

Yw, And if you have any specially beer stores like we do out here, usually the clerks love to talk about beer. Let them know what you're looking for and I'm sure they can help you pick out something good from their stock.

Yeah, my man actually works at a liquor store (state-run,'cause Utah) and normally he's my go to for any advice in this department.

But I wanted to surprise him with something good, so I can't ask him on this one. Thanks for the advice though.
