Pictured: "The White City" as envisioned by its architects, the model of what a Western city should look like. The temporarily erected buildings were built in French neoclassical style, following the Beaux Arts principles of symmetry, balance and splendor.

The exposition covered 690 acres, featuring nearly 200 new buildings of predominantly neoclassical architecture, canals and lagoons, and people and cultures from 46 countries.

More than 27 million people attended the exposition during its six-month run. Its scale and grandeur far exceeded the other world's fairs, and it became a symbol of the emerging American Exceptionalism, much in the same way that the Great Exhibition became a symbol of the Victorian era United Kingdom.

One of the worlds fairs, earlier pic w/ us flags was chicago worlds fair. They tore much down afterwards. Acreage was more valuable before everyone had a car and they encompassed a lot of space in a city.
