NO! Those are the worst houses to work on. They are so expensive that the only way the architect can convince the homeowner to build it is by straight up lying about the total cost. This tradition goes all the way back to Frank Loyd Wright.
The dirt work guy and the foundation guy will have a great time because there is still plenty of money in the project.
I think they're expected to be expensive. Maybe I'll build a crazy pool one day
I've been associated with several projects like that and only one was trouble free as the customer Just Kept Writing Checks. 50% of the time either the architect, pm or gc is kicked off site. Hundreds of thousands in lawyers sometimes, but these rich folks really don't like to let it go to court.
They should know what they're getting into, but they really don't
