With the price gouging going on at present with wood (what, does covid kill trees now?) the extra cost for stone/brick might not be all that much.

Didn't hear about that. What's the deal? Is there a lot of new home builds happening as people flee the cities?

From what I'm told, it is because the production lines to cut and produce the wood stopped due to covid hysteria.

I suspect that is a convenient excuse.
