At least internally, "diversity" in a corporate setting, makes sense as an internal divide and conquer mechanism, disguised as "altruism"
If your employees are divided along ethnic lines you know it's virtually impossible that they unite against the upper management, and with DEI policies you fuel resentment from whites essentially, and encourage/reward racism toward them, which almost guarantees that they won't band with the rest, and the rest you give them the illusion that they get power with the DEI BS while in reality they are your captives
