Sadly, it's not that simple.
I can find plenty of people on the Right who are just as interested in the government taking over as the Left is.
The entire GOP is all about government control, they just go about it in a slightly different way than the Dems do.
To your point, however, there is definitely a stronger movement for liberty coming from the Right than from the Left.

As far as I understand it, anyone claiming to be "right-wing" that advocates for more government control is actually, by definition, left-wing.
The GOP is slightly right of the Democrats, but still left wing, and still farther left than the Democrats were 50 years ago.
