Really? I've read before that Wyoming taxes, car reg, utilities, etc. are all higher than national average. Interesting. Might need to keep that in mind. My son might be interested in moving there after he does his 20 years.

Local pay is lower, that is probably why the numbers look that way. Not having state income tax is nice though.

Oh, and an absolute crap load of USMIL SF people come out of WY. Hard places make hard people.

Yeah, we didn't take much good from Washington, but by joining up in Washington, my son will not have to pay state tax for his entire military career because Washington has no state tax too

Well, when you get out you get to pick any state in the union to have residency in without waiting. Just make sure to pick carefully.

Just don't die in Washington: they tax the fuck out of estates. That's part of the reason why they don't have income taxes.
