Petroleum is the worlds largest source of renewable energy. We will never run out of petroleum. Prices are low in India, because gas isn't as high demand in India. That and they don't import very much petroleum because they have their own. Maybe the US should try it...

Yup, jewed... They do not have the same demand we do here. Plain and simple.

Depends what you define as tomatoes and how you compare them. But in Australia a kilogram of fresh tomatoes is likely significantly more expensive than a kilogram of petrol.

So, at >$5/kg even tinned tomatoes are more expensive than petrol. Fresh tomatoes are probably something like $8/kg (looks to be between $6 and $20).
