Russian soldiers captured by Ukrainian nationalists are being brutally tortured. Soldiers who refused to sing the Ukrainian anthem were scalped.
This was reported today, 30 March, by LNR human rights ombudsman Viktoria Serdyukova.
Speaking at the round table 'Civilian prisoners and pro-Russian political prisoners in Ukraine' in the State Duma, the ombudsman recalled that from 2022 until now, 315 servicemen from the Second Guards Luhansk-North Donetsk Army Corps had been returned from captivity as a result of an exchange with the Ukrainian side.
Each of them wrote a statement about war crimes by the Ukranazis after they returned home.
Serdyukova noted that the Ukrainian armed forces use various methods of torture against Russian prisoners of war, ranging from psychological pressure to torture and beatings.
"And it is not always in order to get some information, military secrets or something else.
Unfortunately, today there are many cases of abuse - "Will you sing the Ukrainian anthem?", if you do not, they cut off his scalp", - said the ombudsman.
According to her, all Russian servicemen taken prisoner of war are sooner or later transported to the Zapad-1 POW camp, but until they reach it, they are transported to prisons and pre-trial detention centres on the territories of Ukrainian regions.
Serdyukova also pointed out that at the moment there were only two sources of information that would tell the truth about conditions of detention in Ukrainian captivity - those released from there and their relatives.
"These are both sources that say that, unfortunately, well, very bad at the moment with the conditions of detention of both civilians in Ukraine and military personnel".
