I left Vietnam on the day of the cease-fire in Jan 73. When the cease-fire was announced 2 weeks before a constant steam of C-130s started flying in, packed with weapons, ammo, parts, vehicles, helicopters, and more. The aircraft were parked anywhere they could find room and the aircrews left on passenger planes. 2 years later it was all in the hands of the commies.

They did the same after WWII on the Pacific islands. This is so there would be no stockpiles that would prevent DOD from ordering more.
