All of our goals have already been achieved in the Ukraine. They were mainly agricultural having to do with genetically modified crops and very awkward anti-collective farm laws in the Ukraine.
In this modern world of retarded digital distractions it is difficult to remember the value of blood and soil. The powers that be know very well the value of both. The value of the blood in the Ukraine was deemed far inferior to the value of the soil.

While china has a presence in the Med, they may not want to risk the loss of those assets, in that region. A peacetime presence is one thing. Losing assets and having to replace them on a war footing is a different animal.

This is a perfect conflict as far as China is concerned. They have nothing to lose. They are involved in some very fucked up international disputes where they have a lot to lose, but this is not one of them.
