The title is nonsense, The Dutch army is tiny, Germany were always running bare bones and Italy has domestic drama going on, the rest of Europe/America is fine.
This is just a logistical issue as the EU didn't really plan to support a random country with weapons, just themselves. Russia has had to go to a semi war footing, the West hasn't.
Russia has a smaller GDP than even Italy, they are not in a good situation compared to Europe
GDP in USD and the price of weapons in USD leads to the wrong conclusions. Western weapons are overprized, up to the factor ten. Russians don't have to pay for patents, licenses, shareholders, and kickbacks for Congress when buying weapons.
There are calculations that the Russians in Ukraine will use up the annual US production of arms and ammunition in 10 weeks. But they don't use up more material than they produce. After a few months they have not only drained the Ukrainian ammo depots but the Western ones too.
The Ukrainian defence ministry said that the Ukrainians pound the Russians with about 5,000 artillery shells and rockets per day. If an average shell weights 50 kg, they have to transport 250 metric tons per day to the front lines. Good luck with replenishing that.
The Ukrainian defence ministry also said that the Russians pound the Ukrainians with about ten times that amount. 2,500 metric tons per day. The main ammo producer for NATO is the Pakistan Ordnance Factories because they were built with USAID money and pay huge kickbacks to Congress. Good luck with transporting 2,500 metric tons per day from Pakistan to front lines in Europe.
