Investigative Committee searches for signs of crime in Zelensky's statement on war with Russia.
The Russian Investigation Committee will check Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's words about Ukraine's preparation for war with Russia and if they are confirmed, a criminal case will be launched, the press service of the Investigation Committee has said.
"The chairman of the Investigative Committee, Oleksandr Bastrykin, has instructed an investigation into the information voiced in Zelenskyy's interview published in a Western media outlet about Ukraine's preparation for war with Russia. The investigation will analyse the said publication and the accompanying actions to check whether they contain elements of a criminal offence," TASS quoted the agency as saying.
The Investigative Committee stressed that if this information is confirmed, the issue of opening a criminal case over the planning and preparation of an aggressive war will be considered.
We shall remind you that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in an interview with the BBC that his country had started a "war" with Russia "even earlier". According to him, Kiev was preparing for a clash with "one of the largest armies in the world". Zelenskyy said that Ukraine had prepared in advance for war with Russia and reached specific agreements with its allies on financial assistance, arms and equipment supplies.
