You'd be truly amazed how fast modern corporations can open and close factories when they want to do it. Our old factories were shipped to China, including all the same machines, even the same paint from the same paint cans. Most of the factories that went over there were already obsolete here in the 1990's, but they could squeeze a lot more profit at Chinese wages without spending on anything else. The problem here is our new factories are all robot based high tech, and they create only a few jobs in the factory itself. I don't know how many, if any, of those Chinese factories ever received the robot production upgrades. The robots are so advanced now, that humans cannot compete against them even if the humans work for free. Humans can only work in the areas where robots cannot work. That also means Chinese are also no longer competitive vrs robots. We see that on the battlefield now too. Half of the US airforce is now drones.
