I hope something like this would happen.
The USA doesn't actually need China to make all of our shit. If Donald Trump was the man he was presenting himself as, one of his major goals would've been bringing manufacturing out of China and back to the USA. Right now, we are literally dependent on China for an absurd amount of commodities. They have us by the balls because of this- "Oh you sanction us, Amelicans?! Fine, no more phone for you!" Devastating.

That was really coming to a head during the scamdemic. Of course it is all forgotten now.
I recall reading a while back that all the power transformers used to step down voltage for neighborhoods and homes are all made in China too.
They go out quite frequently on their own due to storms, trees knocking them down, etc. without malicious intent.
Not hugely completed gear but it would still take a little while to crank a factory up and start churning them out.
just wait until we experience a CME, and we lose ~70 to 80% of them. the entire contenant will go dark.
do you think China would care to replace them very quickly?
nope.
it would take us MINIMUM half a decade with 100% worldwide capacity to even manufacture enough to service the US alone. and, that's assuming the manufacturing and logistical infrastructure are operating at 100% (which they won't be). could possibly be a dark decade for China as they service themselves first. even longer for us- endebting the next 100 years to China because we would be willing to pay almost anything to power ourselves again.
we last experienced a CME of this magnitude when telegraphs were first introduced, and it literally set all of the telegraph lines on fire. they happen often enough to be planning for this scenario. but, our politicians are fucking retarded, so there's nothing in place for this inevitability.
it's not a question of "if". it's a question of "when".
>In addition to setting the telegraph lines almost literally on fire
the almost seems important here
They seem to go out more often now than ever before, discovering the shit is from China now explains that.
So poking around a bit for updates, it seems as of 2020 85% of America's utility transformers come from over seas. There are some manufacturers in the US that do still create them from scratch in country though nowhere near enough.
There's a letter sent by their coalition to the DoE requesting assistance and pointing out a national vulnerability.
Problem: they have to be built to order for the specific load/neighborhood/whatever. There aren't any 'spares' in a warehouse somewhere.
