Something that should really disturb folks that live in North America or in Europe is that this type of proposed dystopian nightmare is firmly targeted ONLY at modern, high-tech, western cultures. Once you leave the bubble of modern bullshit this proposal is laughable... Have you ever visited any central or south American countries? When I visit Mexico for instance, 99.9% of all transactions are face-to-face cash transactions. Quite literally the ONLY time I expect to use a credit card is renting a car and maybe checking into a hotel. I literally take great comfort in knowing that it is still possible to escape the gaze of Sauron. I remember distinctly the first time I had the thought "Wow! Google knows absolutely nothing about what I did today."
Most people who live their lives in a "first world country" really don't get the fact that most of the world lives in a much more disconnected way. A cash based economy makes much of this "digital ID that tracks everything" concept much less possible. I know cell phones are changing a lot of this, but right now this is about subjugating the US and Europe. They plan on circling back for the third world.
