What would you do if you were dying? Or your kid was dying? You going to haggle over the price? No, you'll pay any price, try any method and insurance companies will gleefully cooperate in fucking you over.
Meanwhile the people negotiating for socialised medicine don't give a shit if you live or die. They care about saving enough people within the budget they're given, so they're absolutely willing to haggle and refuse.to pay bullshit prices, resulting in lower cost of medicine.
This is why there's a constant move by the Merchant faction to kill socialised healthcare. It interferes with their profits.

The idea that all your enemies are one united movement is misguided. Just because they're all enemies doesn't mean they all want to fuck you over in the exact same way.

Sure, I'd hope so, but there's more than just insulin isn't there? How about chemo? How about life saving surgery? Even if you, specifically, are willing to pursue alternatives you think every fat fuck and parent out there is too?
Prices follow supply and demand, medicine is high because they know people will pay to survive. Socialised medicine is evil, so they will 100% let people die rather than pay for expensive shit, therefore demand is lower and they pay less.

You grew up in a country that acts like a gateway to europe, only to be european simply because it exists on the continental shelf. England is like a poor, disarmed, uneducated America compressed into a small island. It is why when things happen in England, like fashion trends for example, they come to the US as some sort of new fad.
My point is that I am American who lived in the UK for a few years and came back. The NHS is an absolute waste of everything unless you want free paracetamol or an x-ray for something. My wife needed oral surgery and it would have taken her TWO FUCKING YEARS on NHS to get it taken care of. You know what we did? We used our dirty American dollars to PAY OUT OF POCKET for her dental work and got it done in the same week. Fuck the NHS.
