Russia is not concerned about the growth of China, this factor can only concern those who claim to be world hegemony, said presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
"You quite correctly noted that, yes, America is concerned about the growth of China. But who can worry about China's growth? Only the one who claims to be the only world hegemony,", the Kremlin representative said. TASS reports with reference to Channel One.
He added that Russia does not pretend to such a role, so the rapid development of the PRC does not bother it and will not bother it.
Peskov also said that the timing of a face-to-face meeting between Putin and Xi Jinping is still difficult to assume. "Everything will depend on the epidemiological situation, it is difficult to assume yet," the Kremlin representative said, answering the question whether it is possible to expect a face-to-face meeting between Putin and Xi Jinping this year.
At the same time, he pointed out that the leaders of the two states "communicate so often that the absence of a personal meeting in no way hinders bilateral relations." He drew attention to the fact that "there is a communication system between Moscow and Beijing that allows for high-level negotiations with the highest degree of secrecy," RIA Novosti reports.
At the same time, Peskov added that Putin did not discuss China at the talks with his American counterpart Joe Biden in Geneva. "As such, China was not discussed, but at the same time a certain rivalry, after all, the rivalry with Beijing that constantly prevails over Washington, it was in the air in a number of statements," the Kremlin representative said.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Chinese President Xi Jinping on the centenary of the party's creation and noted the important role of China in solving international issues.
