E: Sort of a leader Hanna Reitsch (en.wikipedia.org). She successfully flew a bi-plane into Berlin during all the bombing in 1945 to save Hitler. Hitler refused to leave his bunker with her saying something like, "I must stay with my people." She left and got away. Talk about heroism!
