Just so that everyone knows I'm not making a call to violence, I'm making a point. Nobody gives up power they don't have to give up. We've been giving more and more power to a central government, decade after decade, what, did we imagine that at some point they'd say, "Now hey guys, let's not go any further. I may be able to pretend you don't have human rights if we go much further." No, it should be a matter of these people hesitating to open their mouths about taking one more fucking thing from the people, for fear they might get hanged. You're not going to see the courts or the justice system generally stop doing more and more egregious shit, until they start dying. It's the same principle as bullying. Go to the teacher all you want. Nothing stops until you make it hurt for that bully to do what he's doing to you every day. Until these people think there's a risk for systematically depriving you of rights and property, they're going to continue to push. If you'll let yourselves be cattle, you *will* be cattle. We've let the violence become bred out of us and 'educated out of us'; the civic role of violence in the Constitution is fairly clear - it's your check against a government doing exactly what ours is today. It wasn't treated as a contingency; it was a duty. We had a duty to behave a certain way with respect to the government. With the wars, we pumped too much in, let them bloat while we weren't looking, and they never looked back. World peace! God forbid another Hitler should ever rise! Meanwhile it's inflating like a fucking balloon, this big democratic safety monster.
