I could see them wanting to run up to the bitter end because a grounded aircraft isn't selling seats...but yeah, this headline smacks of FUD and fnord. Chances are the real story is probably just as dire, but less fear-filled.
Sounds like fear slop. Probably a kiked up half-truth wherein if there was no newly imported fuel Europe would run out in 6 weeks. Similar to that shit you hear that all major cities have something equivalent to 2-3 days worth of food at best without new stuff coming in.
That's probably closest to the truth there is. I mean, there's probably always 6 weeks of fuel available, it's not like you can compress it and stick it in a locker somewhere for later.
