In Genesis 11, God divided the tongues and scattered the people. He was not pleased with the results of everyone trying to unite. Jesus said in Matthew 10, “Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword.“ and then again this same story is reiterated in Luke 12 , but it uses the word division instead of sword. A sword cuts in two, and it’s clear that he wants division between his people and the godless heathens.
