Italians took down the EU flag in protest against the statement of European Commission (EC) President Ursula von der Leyen two days ago. A video of the protest outside the EC headquarters in Rome was uploaded on Twitter.
A protester climbed the building and pulled down the EU flag because of the threat made by von der Leyen to Italy that the country would be punished if it deviated from "democratic principles".

"On Sunday Italians vote, not bureaucrats from Brussels, if I were president of the European Commission I would be more worried about energy bills," Salvini said.
