This is revealed by figures from the Robert Koch Institute, which are available to WELT AM SONNTAG. In the week from 2 to 8 August, only 29,300 practices vaccinated patients against the coronavirus, significantly less than the total number of patients who participated in the campaign. Since the start of vaccination, more than 52,600 practices have given Covid-19 vaccinations.
The vaccine orders of the practices have also been declining since June, as figures from the Kassenärztlichen Bundesvereinigung (KBV) show. Thus, on July 27, about 1.3 million were requested. This is less than at the start of the vaccination campaign in April, when 1.5 million doses were ordered.
However, the chairman of the Board of the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians, Andreas Gassen, puts it into perspective that a large number of practices are currently getting out of the vaccination process. It is true that vaccination numbers are declining. "But we have to keep in mind that, fortunately, more and more people are already fully vaccinated", he said.
Gassen also sees vaccine manufacturers as having a duty: "To ensure that doses do not remain unused and have to be disposed of, it is important that manufacturers also offer single doses as quickly as possible“.
