Morrissey despite having a David Bowie sort of androgynous persona, actually presented as very masculine and gentlemanly, even in a trad sense. Like despite his reputation he actually presented as basically a Chad, with an old school pompadour, and a physically fit body, and no shirt. I am a big fan of his song “the National Front Disco” because he presents right wing thinking as morally grey, more than like Sting for example, who in the Police’s song “Rehumanize Yourself” flat out calls a guy a “little cunt” for being in the National Front. I think Morrissey turned into a sort of emo or LGBT icon, but in reality he would probably think a lot of his fans are fags. I may just be wishful thinking since I was such a big Smiths and Morrissey fan in college.
