They can get jaded with the "dog ate my homework" type excuses.
They go overboard. It should be test grade is top priority, not class, not homework. They demand on-time skin in the game and post-class time away from making money or pursuing other subjects, theyre nuts. ALL but two of my teachers were bonkers. The two that didnt give shit if I was there, I aced their classes, strange feedback loop.
I see what you mean, I never had an excuse beyond I didnt do it, so I never engaged that political realm of them. What I detected from them is myopic entrenchment. That one person is doing this class, that subject, for 3-9 hours per day 5 days a week, and getting paid. Theyre immersed in it. The student is in it 2-6 hours per week, one of many classes, with an uncertain future and demands from the real world, the economic world, outside of their class.
