A great patriot who unified the country after the Spanish Civil War and kept Spain out of World War II. From the story:

As a result of the statue's removal, no more commemorative tributes remain in public streets to the man who ruled Spain from 1939 after winning the Spanish Civil War until his death in 1975.

I lived in Spain as a child (65 to 68). As I remember you couldnt say anything bad about him. But on his way to Madrid he passed thru the small town we lived in, the streets were lined with The Guardia.
