Covid: Argentina, 1% 'adverse events' with Sputnik V vaccine.
BUENOS AIRES, 3 Jan-
Argentine Health Minister Ginés González García announced that in the face of the first 32,013 vaccinations of health personnel throughout the country carried out with the Russian vaccine Sputnik V, there were 317 "adverse events", of which "99.3% classified as mild or moderate".
Intervening in the controversy aroused in Argentina on the safety of the vaccine produced by the Russian laboratory Gamaleya, García stressed via Twitter that "it is a 1%" and that "the presence of fever, headache or muscle pain, as unique or associated symptoms, has affected 80% of the recorded events".
The minister then recalled that "in the case of the manifestation of these symptoms, they appear within six hours after the administration of the vaccine and disappear within 24-48 hours".
For his part, the deputy minister of Health of the government of the city of Buenos Aires, Nicolás Kreplak, commented that "the reactions recorded by Sputnik V are similar to those recorded in the administration of other vaccines".
In recent days the data on contagions have worsened in Argentina: the Ministry of Health reported that from December 31 to January two the contagions were 20,906, for a total from March of 1,634,834. There were 212 deaths, with a total death toll of 43,375.(ANSA).
